Evelyn's Quilt

The photo inspiration for this months club is a quilt that was made by my grandmother, Evelyn. It wasn’t until years after my grandmother passed that I learned she was also a maker and I have enjoyed learning about this side of her and this craft that we shared. She was an avid crocheter, and made most of the clothes my father and his siblings wore as children. She used the fabric scraps from these clothes to make doll clothes for my aunt, and the even smaller scraps to make this beautiful quilt. She grew up in a time where nothing was wasted, and I now take great pleasure in making sure all of my yarn leftovers have a purpose. I hope you enjoy this little peak into my personal history and make something beautiful in Evelyn’s memory!
The inspiration for this colorway is a white quilt, full of colorful diamonds made from a plethora of scraps which I translated to yarn with light handed speckles in a variety of colors on a white base. You’ll see bits of red, green, blue, brown, yellow, black, gray and more! And of course I had to give it a special name, meet Evelyn’s Quilt!
