Hi I’m Janis, the dyer and co-founder of Queen City Yarn.
Thank you for your interest in stocking our yarns!
Our yarns start with eleven great bases, each named for a neighborhood in the Queen City. Ten of these bases are commercially spun superwash yarns. Our non-superwash base, Berryhill, is Queen City Yarn’s first locally-sourced, small-batch, mill-spun yarn. We worked with the female-led team at Echoview Fiber Mill outside of Asheville, NC, to create a beautiful fingering-weight blend of merino and alpaca yarn.
Berryhill is great for color work and has a gorgeous hand and drape that’s guaranteed to give you a soft and cozy finished object, no matter what project you choose. You will love how Berryhill feels when wearing it from head to toe!
Our superwash bases range from lace-weight Madison Park Mohair to single-ply South Park Super Bulky. Our fingering-weight NoDa Sock and Biddleville DK are our two most popular bases. Although each base has its unique characteristics, the superwash merino is next-to-skin soft and makes these yarns a great choice for sweaters, baby knits, shawls, socks and other accessories.
Our colors are inspired by our beautiful surroundings and the breathtaking places we have visited. While we dye each color to be beautiful on its own, we also strive to design coordinating colorways as well as colors that contrast beautifully with one another. We want to make choosing colors for your projects easy, whether they will be a gorgeous fade or a perfect color pop.
WE CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE WITH YOU!
Our process begins with dying beautiful hand-painted colorways. As makers, we fall in love with these skeins, but sometimes struggle to find ways to use them. We wanted to make choosing colors for your projects easy, so we have created coordinating tonals that work effortlessly with the handpaints. These coordinating tonals are great if you need a second or third color for a project. We also dye contrasting tonals that make the hand-painted colorways really pop - perfect for color work or a striped project.
Getting Started with Wholesale
Local yarn stores are SO important to the continued growth of our creative community. Queen City Yarn would not exist today if Christen and I had not met at a knitting group hosted by one of our local stores.
That's why when it comes to selling wholesale we want to start you off on the right foot!
We've put together a wholesale starter pack for this reason. It's a well-rounded mix of our best sellers and tried and true colors. Want to build your collection out more? We've put together a supplementary collection of more fan-favorites, sure to make your in-store display pop.
