I Choose to be a Llamacorn

This month’s colorway, I Choose to be a Llamacorn, was inspired by Christen’s daughter, Caitlyn. She LOVES all things unicorns and is a big fan of llamas too. She was doodling with colored pencils one afternoon and soon handed Christen the inspiration for this month's colorway, a small doodle with the words “I choose to be a llamacorn”. The colors she used match the colorful llama ornament from one of the many fiber events she’s attended and so the inspiration for the February edition of the Studio Series was born.
This month’s colorway was dyed on a new-to-us fingering weight base with bronze stellina and we are seriously in love with it. The yarn took the dye beautifully and the bronze stellina added a depth to the color that we didn’t expect. The techniques we used this month are reminiscent of watercolor painting with a minty turquoise base and pink, purple and peach highlights of color. You’ll notice this skein is speckle free. We felt that the bronze stellina added that extra oomph for this colorway and we couldn’t be happier with the result.
